Ester and Dean Schan's  Norway trip July 19 to Aug 5, 2005

    My desire was to meet relatives on both sides of the family and we sure did.  There were about 20 cousins and their families.  We arrived in Oslo about 5pm Norwegian time.  We were met by two of my cousins, one lives in Oslo and one lives in Notodden.  We stayed in Notodden most of the time.  We were tired from the 20-hour plane trip so not much was planned.  We had dinner with another cousin and went to be early.  The next day we set out to meet relatives.  Not only did we meet many relatives but we saw beautiful houses and beautiful country.  We met relatives for the next several days and visited the farms where both of my parents had lived.  The houses they had lived in had been changed or were gone but it was exciting just being there.  After meeting most of the relative we did some sightseeing and went to the heavy water plant and the Locks and saw a museum of old buildings that were in a park.  We saw many other places in Telemark and then we spend two days in Oslo and toured Frogner Parken, The Kontiki, the Fram and Munch museums.  Then it was a sad farewell and home.  It was a dream come true and a wish fulfilled.   Ester

ES20050700_C Farm where Ester's mother lived. Shge never lived in this house. It was built after she was grown and out working. She did spend some time there for vacations. This house is empty. There is a new house on another part of the property.
